“The Art of Peace begins with you. Work on yourself and your appointed task in the Art of Peace. Everyone has a Spirit that can be refined, a body that can be trained in some manner, a suitable path to follow. You are here for no other purpose than to realize your own inner divinity and manifest your innate enlightenment. Foster Peace in your own life and then apply the Art of Peace to all that you encounter.”

~ Morihei Ueshiba – Founder of Aikido

Aikido is non-violent. Did you know it doesn’t use strength or force? That it enters, yields, blends, neutralizes and/or redirects whatever is coming in?  That it accepts everything.  Aikido shows us where we try to force, freeze or collapse inward and ‘take it’ when presented with someone or something coming at us in life. Once we become aware of our tendencies, then we can practice choosing different more peaceful actions for ourselves and others. Your size and strength (or lack of) don’t matter in Aikido. If you try to use strength, it doesn’t work. If you collapse, it doesn’t work. Imagine finding that neutral calm place and staying there through your day, both physically and emotionally.  Any age, any size, and physical condition can train because it deals with your current body and your energy. Your physical shape is just that. It’s about what’s on the inside and how to heal and harmonize that which blocks us and causes suffering in ourselves and others.

There never needs be any conflict because when we walk in harmony we create none and we can help others work past theirs.
